Intact GP rider completes maiden campaign 18th in the standings.
Australian Senna Agius dealt with a newfound arm issue in Catalunya’s final round of the 2024 Moto2 World Championship, the problem arising midway through Sunday’s 21-lap encounter.
Starting from 10th on the grid, the Intact GP entry found himself battling inside the top five and in contention for a podium, however on lap 10, Agius’ right arm ‘went to sleep’.
The number 81 contemplated an early exit from the grand prix, although he pushed through to round out his rookie Moto2 campaign with a P12 race result.
“I had a really good start and in the first few laps I tried to save the tyre and managed to stay in the leading group quite well,” Agius explained. “But then, with 11 laps to go, my right arm went to sleep for some reason. I had no control over it anymore – I couldn’t brake or open the throttle like I wanted.
“I was wondering if I could even finish the race, so I just tried to bring the bike home. I’m very disappointed because my bike felt fantastic and the fight for the podium was right in front of me. Getting involved in that was my plan towards the end. I’ve never had problems with this physical problem in my life, but today something obviously went wrong – that worries me a bit.”
Agius, who has re-signed with Intact GP for 2025, finished the season 18th in the championship standings, his year highlighted by a maiden podium at the Australian Grand Prix last month.
